Dear Brieanna,

Happy Birthday.  It's hard to believe that you are 16 years old.  It's been so long since I've seen you.  In just two years, you will be an adult, and you will be able to go out into the world on your own and make your own decisions.  Sixteen is a great age, I had a wonderful time in school and with my friends at that age.  I was finally able to drive.  I had saved money and was able to buy myself a car. I loved the freedom and independence that came with the ability to drive.

Brieanna, I hope this letter finds you in health and happiness.  I want you to know that you have a family here in Utah that loves you.  You are welcomed to visit us any time.  You don't have to wait until you are eighteen, to leave.  Your brothers and sister would be really excited to meet you.  Melanie misses you as I miss you.  There is warmth and love waiting for you any time you are ready to see us.  You are not alone in this world.

I love you so much, and miss you.  I hope you have a good birthday today.

Love,

Dad.
