Dear Brieanna,
We celebrated my 37th birthday on Monday. Melanie made me a cake and gave me an ice cream maker, something that I've wanted all my life. I made two batches this last week, and they were amazingly good. In the first batch I used cut up strawberries, and in the second I pureed them. I think the pureed batch tasted the best. The only problem with home made ice cream is that it is extremely fattening. Anyhow, I wish you were here so that you could share some.
Melanie has an old antique piano that her grandmother gave her. It has progressively deteriorated over the last year, 3 of the hammers were broken. We tried to get a piano repair person to fix it. The guy picked it up and kept it for almost 2 months, without doing anything on it. When we called, he told us that he was too busy to help us. This last week, I decided to take a look at it and see if I could fix it. I had to buy some upholstery thread, and leather to replace some of the strings and leather pieces in it. Some of the wood had cracked, so I glued tiny pieces of pop sickle sticks to fill the wood that had chipped. The end result was that I fixed it, and it is working like a charm. We have a tuning wrench, so we tune it ourselves. Melanie is in the music business, so it is essential that she has a functioning piano.
By the way, Melanie has a music CD that we released at the start of the year. You can listen to it www.mgunsay.com. The music is sacred religious music, and guess what you were the inspiration for it. One of the songs has your name on it and was written for you by Melanie. Having you taken away from us, and all of the heartache associated with trying to bring you back to us by use of the court system, was very difficult on us, and a test of our faith in God. These difficulties were the inspiration for this beautiful music album. You should listen to the songs some time.
I took off Thursday, and we took the boys to Star Wars. Do you remember when we saw the first three with you. We had a great time, and enjoyed the movie. I loved the scene where Yoda comes in and then fights with the light saber- that was classic.
We are well. I miss you Brieanna. I'm sorry that these letters are the only way that I can reach out to you. I long for the day when we will be reunited.
Love,
Dad.
