Dear Brieanna,

I'm not sure if you have followed the Elizabeth Smart story there in Canada, but she was found this week. Some wacko street person had kidnapped her about nine months ago, and they finally caught him here in Salt Lake City. Her family is overjoyed, as well as the entire community. Her uncle lives in our neighborhood, and so we were emotionally involved. I was part of a search party that looked for her the first few days.

Unfortunately, it appears that her kidnappers have brain washed her and manipulated her. It will probably take months or years for her to completely recover.

This news has made me happy for the smart family, but also sad at my own loss. It's been almost 5 years since you were taken from us. If I had any idea in how I could effect your return I would act on it, but I don't know how to pierce the bureaucracy that separates Canada and the US. Everything we have tried has failed. It will take a miracle for you to return, before you are an adult. The Smart story has shown me that miracles can happen.
